"Beautiful! Lovely! Wish you were here!"

sisters are... (play)
Greetings from lovely, lovely Colorado! Where every single view is pretty much breath-taking (hence my stealing from French Kiss for my subject line *g*). I'm having the best time in the whole world visiting with my two sisters. It reminds me so strongly of our childhood summers in Canada, nature and family and long laugh-filled chats around the dinner table. The other day, after putting my little niece to bed, my sister broke out some ice cream treats. Which confirms it!! Every time the adults sent us to bed it meant they were up to something fun and cool and guaranteed to give us joy. Grownups do suck. ;P

Here's an irony: I expected no internet connecting issues at my tech-loving sister's house. But there's no wireless! )

And now it's time for cute pet stories! Otherwise known as Bandit the Cat meets Fanny the Bulldog )

Next up, cute niece stories! :D )

Another irony: When we visited Seattle they had a record breaking sunny-streak. Here in "sunny Colorado" they're getting an unusual amount of rain. It's the greenest I've ever seen it. Frankly, I'm loving it. :)

And now to answer those Top Five Meme questions you all asked (I apologize for the delay):

Top 5 things you would say to a specific fictional character if you could. )

Top five things you really liked in SGA... )

...and the top five you would have seriously changed/done differently in SGA. )

YOUR top five Top Gear moments! :-D )

top five moments reading fic and going guh! How is that hot? I didn't know that was hot. )

Top Five things you can DO to fictional character (different characters please but otherwise yes, you can interpret it as broadly as you like ;) )

Top five favorite minor SGA characters. )

On Moral Compasses and things...

The fanfic moratorium is over! :D I did fairly well, except... I stopped by the bookstore. *sheepish grin* But still, I think I've managed to pull myself out of lurking-mode. Also? I've read "Watchmen". Of which I have thoughts.

Okay, there will now be spoilers regarding Watchmen, Avatar, and Harry Potter. Vague spoilers, but consider this the warning of the paranoid. )

I ♥ Avatar

Awesome!
Right, still doing that "no fanfic" thing (how many days do I have left now?) and I've got to post something. So!

I finished Avatar!! About a month ago! And... well, I've been busy doing all this reading... *ahem* Here are my thoughts! :D

Oh yes, there will be spoilers... )

I haven't touched on the epic fail of the live-action casting. But let me point you over to [info]sistermagpie's post, because I don't think it's something to brush aside.

This working thing...

I have to admit, going back to a regular work schedule? Hard. However, I did thwart a possible shoplifter, and that James Bond feeling is always good. (It was all too exciting -- our store got a called in warning with a description, I spotted the culprit and played "over solicitous, slightly dim" shop-girl with her and she quickly sped off in search of less alert climes. A hero is born!! *g*)

In other news, I've started watching Fringe. Anyone else into this show? I'm coming in late to the game, so it's all delightfully vague for me at the moment. It's got the bad daddy from Lord of the Rings as a mad scientist (with a heart of gold? I think?) and he's starting to win me over. (I feel a slight dissonance that the mad scientist isn't Rodney McKay, for no other reason than obsessive loyalty because he's far too young for the role, but boy would David Hewlett enjoy a character like this.) The guy who played the bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks in "Dawson's Creek" (at least, I think he was from the wrong side of the tracks? maybe he was just rebellious?) is in it. It was hard for me to see him as an adult, but I'm starting to. And I like the FBI agent, Olivia, who I don't recognize from anywhere.

And!! I've watched through "The Beach" in Avatar!! :D spoilers! )

Can't sleep... more Avatar to watch... O.O

Awesome!
Avatar is officially made of awesome and the second season just stole my weekend. :D

I've always adored shows that make massive use of "previously on" and the second season of Avatar does not disappoint. second season spoilers to follow )

Girls are cool :D

I have to say, I really, really love the whole girly-and-tough trend that's been going on... okay, for a long while now (probably dating back to "Buffy"?), which means I'm babbling late into the game. Again. ;) But I was watching the latest "South Park" episode spoilers )

In a similar vein, I've been enjoying "Avatar" (just finished the first season). It's a well told story (the world building and the lovely balancing of the elements alone... ::blissful sigh::) with very likable characters, and a surprising amount of nuance for a cartoon aimed at pre-teens. (Also, a highly addictive love song. I've been humming it for days. *g*) And I love the way they've balanced the boys and the girls. vague spoilers for parts of season one )
